How to make a Pizza Dip
Making pizza dip is extremely simple. Firstly, start by setting your smoker to 300 degrees. Then you want to roll out your dough balls and place around your cast iron skillet. Next, add marinara sauce to the center of the skillet. Now, you will add your cream cheese and seasoning and add the entire skillet to the smoker for 45 minutes. Once that is finished, turn the smoker up to 400 degrees, add your mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, egg wash and add back to the smoker for 10 minutes.
Boss move – you can add a bit of hot sauce into your marinara sauce for that extra kick.
Pizza Dip Step by Step
Start by preheating your smoker to 300 degrees
Next, grab your pizza dough
Shredded cheese that I used – feel free to use your favorite
After rolling the dough into balls, here is what they will look like
Boss move – stuff the dough balls with cheese. Everyone likes cheesy balls
Next, add your pizza sauce to the center of your cast iron. Simple!
Now, take your room temperature cheese cream and place it in the center on top of the pizza sauce
From there, we are going to add a bit of seasoning
I am far from being a vegan however this potato slayer veggie blend from Fire and Smoke is delicious.
After seasoning – add to your 300 degree smoker for 30 – 45 minutes
Once the cream cheese has completely melted, start mixing it into the sauce. You can think of this as the binder to stick to your dough balls
After that and while the pizza dip is cooling off for 5 minutes – start by mixing your butter
Egg Butter Wash
- Melted butter
- Sriracha
- One egg / egg wash
After that, we are going to brush the melted butter mix onto the top of the dough.
Now, this would be a great idea to add everything bagel seasoning onto the dough as well. We are also going to be adding pepperoni at this time.
Crank your smoker up to 400 degrees and add shredded mozzarella cheese on top of your pizza dip
Once your smoker hits 400 degrees, it’s time to add your cast iron pizza dip back in. Let it smoke for an additional 10 minutes.
You can opt to smoke it for longer if you like it more well-done. In this case, I wanted the dough to be airy and fluffy.
Therefore, 10 minutes was the perfect amount of time.
Finally, add crackers, chips, pretzel sticks or your favorite food and dip away!

Recap of This Simple Smoked Pizza Dip Recipe
Now that we have made it to the end. Let’s do a quick recap. At this point, hopefully you are eating a clone of this pizza dip recipe. This is the perfect finger food for any game day or weekend snack. It’s cheesy, warm, gooey and thick nature make this super delicious. However, the best part is that this is incredibly simple to make. If you have a skillet and a smoker, anyone can make this.
Now, if I were to do this again, I would add everything bagel seasoning to the dough balls after putting the egg wash on. I also would add a bit more heat to the marinara sauce. This can be done with any of your favorite hot sauces or but simply buying spicy marinara sauce.
To be clear, this is a VERY heavy cheese dish so if you are not a fan of a lot of cheese, it’s best to add your own twist. I would start by not stuffing the dough balls with cheese.
