To begin with, this Pork Steak Recipe is one to drool over. First things first, you will need a Pork Belly Steak from Campo and it is one of the craziest bites of meat you will ever have. Now, if you haven’t noticed yet, my thing is simple recipes and this is no different. It takes about 5 minutes to cook this one. The hardest part is just waiting for it to arrive at your doorstep from Campo! In fact, this tastes nearly identical to a5 Wagyu and it’s about a third of the price.
In contrast, if that isn’t enough to convince you to give this a try, maybe try my classic pizza dip.
Now if you REALLY want to impress people. Imagine cooking this on the worlds smallest smoker?
Pork Steak Recipe Ingredients:
- Pork Belly Steak
- Your favorite Pre-made rub – I used Spice House Brisket of Love
- Microwaved Pasta – Yes, I enjoy this 🙂
Why is Pork Belly so popular?
A good pork belly recipe is normally a fan favorite at any BBQ competition. Additionally, the succulent flavor and versatility of pork belly makes it incredible for your BBQ. In fact, this is a staple in many cuisines around the world.
Let me share with you my favorite thing about Pork Belly. A single bite of a great pork belly recipe can be crunchy and meaty all in the same bite. In fact, that bite is the best bite in BBQ if you ask me.
Cooking your Pork Steak Recipe:
Starting with the most marbly piece of pork belly you have ever seen.
Then, season with your favorite seasoning. Be sure to cover all sides!
Now, when you’re finished seasoning, it should look like this!
Then, add to your smoking hot grill. My Grilla Grills Kong was set to 600 degrees.
This is the most tricky part of the entire cook because it takes roughly 3 minutes per side to cook this!
Because this is such a thin piece of pork belly, it will cook fast!
Now, make sure you cut AGAINST the grain. It will be tough and difficult to eat if you cut with the grain. Indeed, this might ruin your experience with such a high quality pork steak recipe!
Now, I paired this with my microwaved pasta. It’s easy to make and tastes good to me!
What would I do differently for this Pork Steak Recipe?
Now, this cook was pretty perfect and the whole family enjoyed it but there are a few things I would do differently if I were to do this again. For starters, this was A LOT of pork belly. Getting this from Campo is a crazy good deal and it was more food than we could eat.
So to start, I would cut this in half and save the other half for another cook. Then, I would marinate this steak in a spicy broth for 24 hours. I don’t know what that would turn out like however after tasting this, that came to my mind!
And lastly, I would have some greens to top the dish off. Cilantro and fresh lime juice would have been a great topper however we were out of this at my house!
Pork Belly Steak Recap:
Now, I realize that this recipe is very simple. Like extremely simple. However, I truly believe that when trying something for the first time, you MUST go simple. This is the only way to truly taste the flavor of this insanely marbled piece of pork belly. What makes this recipe special is that it’s not something a lot of people even have the pleasure of eating.
In fact, this was my first time ever eating a pork belly steak. I’ve had a ton of pork belly but never a thin piece of steak like this. As I said above, I would recommend cutting this pork belly steak in half and cooking one half at a time. Especially if this was your first time having this cut of meat. The first recipe could be something simple, as I shared above. And the second cook could be something much more complex.
Next time I have this, there are two ways I want to make it. I will smoke this at a low temperature for hours and turn it into very thinly sliced bacon. Then I will add that to a carbonara dish. I’m drooling just thinking about this.
